Lovely Take on Oatmeal
I ordered samples of the red bean berry, taro bubble tea, and black sesame. Each flavour was on point! So tasty, reminding me of the flavours that I grew up with, and even in my boba tea shop-frequenting university days. I shared bites with my husband who does not have the same cultural food background, and he thought they were excellent and indulgent as well. I will add that I'm not keen on stevia, or erythritol as a sweetener replacements because they typically taste funky to my tastebuds .. But I will say that it was barely noticeable in these! Well done, YíShì! Plan on ordering more for my family and friends to try.
This just doesn't taste good
I wanted to love this sooooooo much. Unfortunately, it was really disappointing. The overall flavor is a fakey chemical-type sweetness. Also, it's very soupy. Even putting in the recommended amount of water and letting it sit for the recommended amount of time, this comes out as mostly liquid with oat bits floating around. I've been able to make it palatable by mixing it with applesauce, blueberries and bananas. I think this would taste much better without the added sweeteners, or perhaps monkfruit sugar, honey or coconut sugar. The erythritol and stevia tastes are just far too overpowering.
Hi Dewi, We appreciate your feedback. You're not alone in your sensitivity to the stevia, and we are currently testing a new formulation that uses less of it in hopes the taste will be less dominant. We hope to release our new recipe early this summer. In the meantime though, if you choose to continue eating our oatmeal, we recommend adding a pinch of regular oats to your oatmeal if you feel it's a bit overpowering, as it adds nice balance. And to avoid the soupy-ness you described, we recommend using 1.5 - 2 tablespoons of water, and then eventually adding more if it's too dry. With love & oatmeal, The Yishi Team
Not too sweet. Something I can eat everyday.
This oatmeal felt fruity without being too sweet. I really enjoyed this because it tasted healthy and delicious.
Erythritol really ruins the potential of these oatmeal’s
I feel like texturally these oatmeals are amazing! I love the size of the oats and the addition of flaxseeds. The flavors of the oatmeal has so much potential, you can really taste it initially, but the aftertaste of sugar alcohol is overpowering. I got 4 pouches and 3 packs and it’s a struggle to finish them. Hopefully they reformulate!
I loved it I ate with everything and on the go.
